“You are perfect, just the way you are!” –LBGTQ Sunday
After centuries of religion-based oppression, every LGBTQ teen deserves to hear a religious leader say, “Your sexual orientation or gender identity is perfect. You are loved, just as you are.”
THOUSANDS of churches, synagogues, sanghas, and other faith communities celebrate LGBTQ people just as they are.
But GLAAD reports that 75% of religious messages in mainstream news coverage are from anti-LGBTQ sources.
Parents who identify as “strongly religious” are significantly more likely to rejects their LGBTQ children. (Family Acceptance Project)
26% of LGBTQ teens are kicked out when they come out, at an average age of 14 years old.
LGBTQ teens who are rejected by their families are 840% more likely to attempt suicide.
Join us as we flood social media with a Thunderclap message of love and affirmation, and invite LGBTQ teens and their parents to visit an open-and-affirming faith community.
We hope this message of love will reach youth in Wichita and we will welcome them to worship on June 26.
