THANK YOU FOR “FILLING THE GAP”

Greetings,       Last Friday marked the last day of “Filling the Gap” at 15 locations across Wichita, Haysville, and Oaklawn. We are pleased to announce that about 9,700 meals were served to hungry children and youth in just 10 days. This number is up about 1,000 from last summer, meaning we served an average of about 970 children a day. Wow!       We are glad to have partnered with the Kansas Food Bank and blessed have your involvement. Congregations (big and small) and congregation members are truly the reason for this success. By helping provide volunteers, donating needed snack items and fruit, donating funds, and genuinely caring you have helped us make our community a better place for thousands.        During a time when 75% of USD 259 children are on free-reduced lunch and 1 in 5 children face food insecurity, your help made a huge difference. Partners for Wichita applauds you for stepping up to ensure our community’s children don’t go hungry.       This summer one mother said, “This lunch program has been a real blessing to our family. Two weeks doesn’t sound like a long time but when you have 4 mouths to feed – it is. Not only does this lunch program help on the weekdays but on the weekends too. But the best part about coming are the people who are there to greet and help you when you walk through those doors.”

THANK YOU!!
