SPIRITUAL GIFTS

Hello Everyone!

It is getting close to our Spirit Fest on February 11th! This year’s Mardi Gras theme will be fun for everyone. Spirit Fest is a great way to come together and celebrate the ministries of Pine Valley Christian Church and to think about the ways you can experience and share in those ministries in the next year.
Often times in church and in life we do things from habit. This can be a good thing, and yet sometimes our habits, the things we’ve always done, shape our viewpoints. Things can seem stagnant, dull, and even life-sucking. This year we are trying to approach Spirit Fest with the perspective that God calls us to new places and invites us into ministry together, and that church isn’t just about “how we’ve always done it.” So, we’d like to propose a question for you to ponder.

Where is the Spirit drawing you to serve and share at this point in your life?

I would encourage you to take some time to check in with yourself about the ways you are currently sharing your time with the ministries of this congregation. Do you feel the Spirit or recognize it moving in your ministry with the Spirit team? Do you feel yourself being nudged to share or lead in a new (to you) team? How is it with your soul?

Another tool that might be helpful for you as you prepare for Spirit Fest is a spiritual gifts inventory, which is attached and will be available at worship the next 2 Sundays. On Sunday and in the next Communicator we will share a chart that tells some of the obvious and not so obvious ways each Spirit team shares ministries in the church, community, and world.

As you consider where the Spirit is leading you, please remember, our goal is not to make everyone attend more meetings. Our goal and our hope, as a faith community, is to enable everyone to serve and share in ministry together. Please feel free to contact me if you have questions or need ideas as you prepare for Spirit Fest 2018!

Peace,
Rev. Kara
