FILLING THE GAP – LUNCHES FOR KIDS

Partners for Wichita is helping to combat childhood hunger this summer and they need your assistance to fill the gap between the Summer Food Program and school meals from August 1-12. Partners for Wichita, with Kansas Food Bank and others, has five sites where lunchtime meals will be available: Atwater, Colvin, Evergreen, the Stanley-Aley Neighborhood City Hall and St. Mark Church of God in Christ.

You can help by making a donation to help cover the cost of the meal. Just $2 will cover one sack lunch for one child/day and $20 will cover the entire two weeks. $50 feeds 25 children a day, and $100 feeds 50 children a day. With planning for 500 children, our goal is a minimum $10,000 to cover the cost of all the meals. Healthy snacks are needed too (individual beef sticks, beef jerky, slim jims, crackers and cheese, fruit roll ups, dried fruit, raisins packets, individual goldfish, pretzels, snack bars, granola bars, “Chewys”, fruit and pudding cups) and Snack Donation Day is July 14 from 11:00am -1:00pm at the Kansans Food Bank (1919 E. Douglas). Fresh fruit (individual servings; i.e., bananas, oranges, apples) can be taken directly to a site near you during program hours (sheila@partnersforwichita.org or call 316.263.1389 for location information).

Mail donations made by check to Hillside Christian Church, (925 N. Waco) and put “Filling the Gap” in the memo section or www.partnersforwichita.org and/or https://secure.qgiv.com/for/pfw/ to donate to Partners for Wichita. For more information: 316.263.1389 and/or info@partnersforwichita.org .
