At the end of July we had Camp Friendship, which is a camp where our region’s outdoor ministries program partners with Big Brothers Big Sisters to provide a camp experience, free of charge, to Wichita and Cowley County youth in the BBBS program. In meeting with a case worker to provide a recap of the camp I learned that there are 6,000 kids registered in the Kansas BBBS program, and of those 6,000 children 4,000 are still waiting to be matched with a big brother or big sister. We can help! There are a variety of programs, with differing time commitments; one Sally mentioned in church is simply going to eat lunch with a child once a week. Below is a link that will show you the different programs and describe the basics of each. I hope you will consider this opportunity to be a mentor for a child in need of support, and also pass it on to friends so that we can raise awareness in the community. Please let know if you have any questions.
