KS Legislation

Several bills have been introduced in the Kansas State Legislature.  A lot of information regarding the legislative process can be found at www.kslegislature.org.  On the home page, you can find a bill, read it in its entirety, and follow it through the process.  Contact information for senators and representatives is fairly easy locate, as well as the committees they serve on.       (*SB = Senate Bill, contact your state senator; HB = House Bill, contact your state representative)

  • HB 2042 – Concealed carry licensure amendments under the personal and family protection act.
  • HB 2171 – The bathroom bill is back.
  • HB 2172 – Officially recognizes same-sex marriage under Kansas law.
  • HB 2215 – Officially removes anti-sodomy prohibition from Kansas law.
  • HCR 5006 – Repeals the constitutional ban on same-sex marriage, passed by Kansans in 2005.
  • SB 139 – Repeals the campus religious freedom law which took effect July, 2016
