If you are interested in becoming a part of the Wichita Circles Network and want to help someone get out of poverty, the first step is to attend a Poverty Simulation. Carmen Bell, Lorrie Beck and Karen Brown are already involved in these intentional relationships. This simulation helps you learn about the obstacles, decisions and consequences that families in poverty face every day. This exercise simulates a month in time where participants experience the virtual realities of struggling to make ends meet and provide for their family while interacting with businesses and community organizations. Scenarios are based on real-life situations. Hosted by Wichita Circles Network and the Blessed Sacrament Society of St. Vincent de Paul, this event is designed to sensitize people to the day-to-day realities of poverty and encourage action to make a difference. April 29, 2014 from 6pm to 9pm at Blessed Sacrament Church, 124 N Roosevelt St, in the new gym. FREE. Childcare provided. Registration limited to 82 persons. RSVP by April 21 to Dee Ziegert: djziegert@me.com or 316.617.4000.
