There are 2 opportunities the weekend of PVCC Fall Festival – one more strenuous, one more sedentary. Both are fun ways to be out in the community wearing your PVCC shirts.
1) ICTS.O.S. Race4Freedom
The mission of ICTS.O.S. is to stop human trafficking and the Race4Freedom is the organizations’ largest fund raiser of the year. A large group from PVCC volunteered last year and had a blast doing a variety of things – setting up canopies and balloons in the dark, directing traffic and serving breakfast. Oh, and Mike Byington and Jenny Grieg ran in the race! This year the volunteer coordinator is doing something a little different. There are opportunities to volunteer on Friday, September 11 and Saturday, September 12. More volunteers are needed during the Saturday 6:00 – 11:00 am slot than any other. Signup sheets will be available on Sunday. The more the merrier.
2) Art on the Trail event at the Great Plains Nature Center
We have another opportunity to get out into the community and help with a local special event at the Great Plains Nature Center (GPNC). The GPNC is hosting “Art on the Trail” on Saturday, September 12 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Church members will be staffing the kid’s craft booth. All the craft materials will be provided; we will be there to assist kids in making a craft project.
Shirley and Lorrie will work the first two hours (11 a.m. – 1 p.m.) and we’d like to have 1 additional person work that shift with us. We’ll need 2 more people to work the last two hours of the event (1 – 3 p.m.).
If you’re interested in helping with the Art on the Trail event at the GPNC, please contact Lorrie Beck at 249-6222, or via e-mail: lorriebeck1@gmail.com
3) MOVE-IN Day at WSU – many thanks, in advance to those who participated. We’ll share a quick report on Sunday.
4) Save the Date – Wichita Pride Parade, Sunday, September 20 after worship
There’s something for everyone!
