“Sometimes the best evangelism is simply telling people you’re a Christian and then not being a complete jerk.” – John Pavlovitz

PVCC Constitution
At our August 28 meeting, we will revisit the PVCC Constitution. In June, parts of the Constitution were suspended until August 31 to allow the congregation control of most of the decision-making while the church re-images a new future.
This summer’s work is not complete. It takes more than three months. This past Sunday, David Hansen asked that the congregation consider continuing this summer experiment with a parts-suspended Constitution for another five months. Then at the end of January 2023 we can see how much progress we have made.
There is one section that will need changed, concerning a 60-day notice for termination of pastoral employment. That needs changed to 30 days.
I look forward to seeing you at the August 28 meeting.
Cheers,
Melanie Naden, Moderator

From the PVCC newsletter archives, this week in 1969: Lift-Off for the Supersonic Seventies. What is the mission of the church in a supersonic age – an age in which change rushes at us at mach speeds? …Seattle, home of the supersonic transport, is a fitting site for an Assembly at which Disciples …turn attention to the mission of the church in the 1970s and beyond…world order, racial reconciliation, evangelism and renewal.
