DAVID’S DIARY … REFLECTIONS ON THE WEEK

I would remind us all once again that when disaster strikes the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) is ready to respond thanks to your generous support of the Week of Compassion. Contributions can be made through Pine Valley, simply write “Hurricane Relief” in the memo section of your check. Thank you.

Please keep DACA children in your prayers and let your representatives in Congress know how you feel about the president’s cold-hearted threat to deport 800,000 DACA youth.

We also keep the global community in our prayers, especially the people of Korea, Afghanistan, Palestine, and all whose lives are torn apart by military conflict. One of my favorite bumper stickers says simply: “War is not healthy for children and other living beings.” Fifty years ago Dr.King spoke out boldly against militarism, racism, and poverty. These are the plagues of the 21st century. The antidotes are well-known: faith, hope, and love. These words are a call to action.

In friendship,
David
