Mission Council invites your presence at a Congregational Meeting after church on September 3, to discuss a few items.
First, Faith Sharing/PR Spirit Team proposed a few changes to the new church identity at the August 20, meeting of the Mission Council.
1) The Membership approved a new, user-friendly mission statement in the spring of this year: “All About…Thinking Christians, Living Diversity, Loving Service.” We offer that “Seeking Justice” better reflects the mission of PVCC than “Loving Service”. We propose: “All About…Thinking Christians, Living Diversity, Seeking Justice”
2) With the more quotable mission statement in item #1, we recommend our mission statement thoughtfully created in 2013/14 become our statement of Vision. “The vision of Pine Valley Christian Church is to be a progressive faith community practicing unconditional love and seeking justice in an interfaith world so that all people may experience abundant life.”
3) On the updated outdoor sign, we recommend the Sunday School time be replaced with the website ALLchurch.info
Mission Council has concurred with these changes with 100% consensus. To implement these changes the Congregation needs to concur also.
Second, the task force working to provide information on immigrants and refugees wishes to extend the conversation to the congregation. Our question is: Does the congregation desire to develop a relationship with our refugee neighbors or does the congregation wish to engage in mission project(s) with refugee organizations in town? We have Spirit Teams willing to lead with either choice.
