CONGRAGULATIONS TO LORRIE BECK!

Lorrie Beck, director of the Great Plains Nature Center, has received a national honor in being awarded the national Legends Award from the American Recreation Coalition. The distinction is awarded to one manager of each of the eight agencies that oversee federal recreation facilities, which includes the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. Lorrie was selected from more than 9,000 Fish & Wildlife Service employees. She was also the winner of the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Partners in Conservation Award earlier this year.

Two years ago, Lorrie was named director of the Great Plains Nature Center, located at East 29th Street North and Woodlawn and adjacent to Chisholm Creek Park. As director, she has led the Kansas Junior Duck Stamp program, the student version of the national program that makes stamps from artists’ depictions of water fowl.
