First Presbyterian Church’s (525 N. Broadway) Back-to-School Bash! for Refugee Families will be held Saturday, August 11, from 10a-3p. They would love to have volunteers from PVCC for 8/10-8/11.
Last year, generous support from partner congregations and our community provided school supplies-not only for the refugee kids who had already arrived, but for all of the new refugee students who arrived during the school year!
We hope to repeat that success with enough supplies for at least 500 refugee students by providing a school supply ‘store’ for refugee families who need help getting ready for this school year, along with a casual lunch and special activities.
Your help is needed-we can’t do this without you! We need volunteers to help on August 10 and 11:
- A ‘shopping buddy’ for each family during the Bash
- Set-up on Friday afternoon, August 10
- Clean-up on Saturday, August 11
- Serving lunch
- Activities for the children
- Transportation–we need a few volunteers who can transport families to our event who don’t yet have cars
