“While God may not be subject to change, the human perception of God is; and history, even the history of the Bible, is the story of the ever-changing human perceptions of God.” – John Shelby Spong

Seriously, PVCC, what is next?

Thinking that there would be an over-abundance of volunteers for the future-planning task group, the Congregation specified, on June 26, the formation of a 5-person team, plus myself and David Hansen. There have been 3 volunteers and I have asked others to consider joining.  As of today, the team is not complete. The days are passing by. A report that will require Congregational action needs to be given at the July 31 Congregation Meeting.

The team, so far, is myself, David Hansen, Carmen Bell, Cheryl Roy, Lisa Tos-Brightup and Natalie Tos-Brightup. We need one more member that can meet with us more than once this month to plan a future.

David Hansen’s contract ends on August 31, and will not be renewed. The team will plan for September and beyond.

Will there be professional ministerial leadership?

What is PVCC’s structure after August 31?

How does PVCC function after August 31?

This team will explore those questions and others, and give a report to the Congregation that will require action at the July 31 meeting.

If you would like to volunteer for this team, please email or call me.

From the PVCC newsletter archives, this week in 1973: “How can we capture in song the hope of the Future with a firm foot in today?” [From that initial question] four young musicians from the Music Theater of Wichita…will come to Pine Valley to sing about life [during a future] worship service… Songs from the secular world which speak of our common life [will be] “What About Today?” “Sing God a Simple Song” “Apple Tree” and “Celebration.”
