Season of Pentecost
“We’ve lost the plot if we use religion as the place where we escape from difficult realities instead of as the place where those difficult realities are given meaning.” – Nadia Bolz-Weber
Although we’re not explicitly calling this Sunday Fall Festival, it does mark a time when we can all greet each other, look forward to cooler weather, and find new ways to support the Pine Valley Christian Church Mission.
From the PVCC newsletter archives, this week in 1974: The refreshing change of pace which summer brings always enables us to engage enthusiastically in the promising events of fall. On the first Sunday after Labor Day this process is evident in the churches when Christians rouse themselves to come together in full strength so that they may begin to release their renewed power in a very needy world. — Greg Yarnell, PVCC Moderator
