Season of Pentecost
“If someone’s color, gender, religion, ethnicity, or sexual orientation keeps you from fully loving them – you’re doing love wrong.” – John Pavlovitz
I really enjoyed getting together with everyone this past Sunday for our monthly Congregational Business Meeting and sandwich bar. We enjoyed some very creative sandwiches and conducted the business that needed attention.
One order of business was the election of a new Moderator – me! I look forward to working with everyone to continue to grow the ministry of Pine Valley Christian Church. We all have something to offer. Over the next couple of weeks, I’ll be meeting with the rest of the Leadership team, as well as the facilitators of the Gathered and Scattered teams.
Our next regularly scheduled Congregational Business Meeting will be October 2. See Lisa’s announcement of a special Congregational Business Meeting to be held September 18.
From the PVCC newsletter archives, this week in 1974: The celebration of the life and death of Carl Kaucher Monday was a time of thanksgiving and rich memories. Carl [lived] in the 19th and 20th centuries, and [his life] spanned two continents and two cultures. A few years ago, we had the rare privilege of marking the 60th anniversary of his confirmation in the Lutheran Church in Germany. Carl was…the first of our members to die in our eight-year history. A…memorial fund has been established…to provide scholarships for our young people who hope to journey to Germany…for an educational venture.
