Sedgwick County‘s COVID-19 positivity rate is high enough that we recommend masks during worship. By this time in the pandemic, everyone has made decisions about available vaccines, their own health risks and the safety of those around them. Pine Valley Christian Church remains open for rentals, meetings and gathered worship.

The congregational potluck lunch and business meeting will follow worship, this coming Sunday, July 31. We are still planning to share a potluck luncheon of salads. Bring a delicious salad to share. Currently there isno evidenceoffood orfood packaging being associated withtransmissionof COVID–19. However, please feel free to bring a sack lunch if you are uncomfortable sharing food.
If you have agenda items for the July 31 meeting, please send them to me before the weekend.
I hope to see you Sunday!

The future-planning group will bring two proposals to the congregation on July 31.
One proposal is to adopt a monthly worship format that addresses different themes of social justice and liturgical seasons that would include a monthly active outreach and a monthly guest speaker. Each month would focus on a different theme, some repeating during the year. Monthly social justice and liturgical themes suggested are Advent and Christmas; Easter; LGBQ+; Hunger and Poverty; Racism; Health; Human Trafficking; Gun Violence; Earth Stewardship; Immigration.
The other proposal lays out the call of a professional minister. Details will be presented at the meeting.

From the PVCC newsletter archives, this week in 1973: With the mounting of the mahogany bookcase in the main hall of Pine Valley’s building, the library has become a visible reality. Chet Vice’s craftmanship was admired by the Mission Council and will soon be holding books for the use of the members… A select group of books is the image which we have for our library.
