I’ve been thinking lately about the Pledge of Nonviolence that I and many of us signed last August. To quickly review, we pledged to make peace with ourselves and our families, to respect self and others, to communicate better, to listen, to forgive, to play creatively, to be courageous. In so doing we will work together to eliminate violence one family at a time.
Since we signed that pledge we have done several things to support nonviolence: the fifth Sunday discussions led by Natalie, becoming involved in Circles, participating in the School of the Americas Watch, supporting community ministries like the Lord’s Diner and through creative individual acts such as planting gardens.
This Saturday many of us will join in the River Clean Up. We will meet at Dumont Stadium at 8:30 am and join with others in our community to clean the river of debris and trash. This is part of our Earth Day celebration, and a way to honor our Pledge of Nonviolence. Rejoice and give thanks to God.
Blessings, David
