David’s Diary

Sally and I had a wonderful trip to Illinois. We visited friends and family and had a great time with Pastor Scott Oberle and members of Downers Grove Congregational Church, United Church of Christ. In many ways their style of worship reminded us of PVCC. I was delighted to be able to accept their invitation to come and discuss my book. Thank you for allowing me to take advantage of their warm invitation.

Next Tuesday, May 16, I will be at Watermark Books and Café at 6:00 p.m. for a talk on themes addressed in my book, Native Americans, the Mainline Church, and the Quest for Interracial Justice, and events since the closing of the Sacred Stone Camp at Cannon Ball, North Dakota.  Although I have already given a talk here at PVCC, I think you would find this updated presentation interesting and informative. I hope you will join me.  Please spread the word and encourage your friends to attend. As always your support and encouragement are greatly appreciated.

My thanks again to Reverend Charles Claycomb for being on call while I was away and for leading worship and preaching last Sunday.

This Sunday is Mother’s Day/Women’s Day. The men of the church are preparing a special breakfast—so don’t let us eat alone. Sunday’s sermon will focus on unlikely biblical heroines and the lessons they can teach us
