LIVING LENT: PROCLAIM

He has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners…to release the oppressed. Luke 4:18

Luke strongly reminds us that there are many ways to proclaim Jesus to others. Living Lent as people of the resurrection reminds us that we are to imitate Christ as we live out our lives for others. There is nothing wrong in “giving up” something for Lent, but what about also “taking up” something for the sake of others? What if our Lenten journey would include our care for others more than our care for ourselves. Lent invites us to look to Jesus as our source of strength. We can then look within ourselves, look to others to see how we might serve them and then look to God who equips us to put our lives on the line for others.

Prayer: Lord, you have sent your Spirit to us. Equip us to put ourselves on the line in care and service to others. Amen.

Living Lent This Week: Discuss with family and friends how you can “take up” the task of serving the underserved and give hope to the hopeless.
