Spirit Teams

    Why Spirit Teams?
  • The work of the Church is performed by Spirit Teams.Pine Valley adopted Spirit Teams as its governing structure in the early 2000s. Governance is ultimately with the membership through congregational meetings and voting, and through representatives on the Mission Council. The Mission Council is comprised of the elected officers and representatives from the Spirit Teams. Spirit Teams are coordinated by designated Facilitators. Day-to-day business and the missions of the church are conducted by the elected officers, by Spirit Team Facilitators, by paid staff and by volunteers.
    What is a Spirit Team?
  • A group of people with like-minded interests, similar spiritual gifts, and common purposes who join together to accomplish tasks for the church. Spirit Teams work to do the work on the church. Members of a Spirit Team are not "elected"; they voluntarily participate because they believe in the mission of that team, and they want to fully utilize the spiritual gift(s) they have received from God. In this manner, the entire congregation is encouraged to become involved in the day-to-day ministry of the church.
    What is a Spiritual Gift?
  • A gift of one or more special abilities given to us by God for the purpose of growing God's kingdom here on earth. Identify and "unwrap" your spiritual gift and make use of your gift(s) by joining a Spirit Team and make Pine Valley Christian Church a dynamic place of worship and mission!
What are the various Spirit Teams and their Missions?
  • Leadership Team: formulates, directs, and carries out plans necessary to fulfill a purpose.
  • Worship/Art/Music Team: creates meaningful worship services for the faith community; creates artistic expressions to produce a spiritual response of strength and inspiration; and inspires others through musical expression.
  • Faith Sharing Team: helps others become active participants in the Christian community and strengthens the community of believers.
  • Giving & Mercy Team: recognizes God's blessings and, with the congregation's help, help those in physical, spiritual, or emotional need through giving of time, talents, and treasures.
  • Hospitality Team: welcomes and recognizes guests, and provides those in need with food and lodging.
  • Pastoring/Discernment Team: reaches out in Christian love to people in personal conflict or facing a spiritual void; provides spiritual leadership and direction for the congregation; and prays with compassion, confidence, and certainty.
  • Management/Service Team: works behind the scenes in order that God's work around the church is fulfilled, and gives directions and provides motivation to fulfill a dream or complete a task.
  • Skilled Crafts Team: creates, builds, maintains, and repairs items used within the church.
  • Teaching/Wisdom/Knowledge Team: communicates an understanding of the Bible and faith to others while analyzing and uncovering new insights with regard to the Bible and faith.
